BETWEEN

TRA

TRA is a limited luxury table conceived through a four-hands collaboration between ORFEO STUDIO in Italy and Remain & Remind in Washington, D.C. Handcrafted in Italy, the piece brings together two studios, two perspectives, and a shared exploration of material, form, and the space between.

The Story

TRA is composed of displaced material planes held within one continuous volume; TRA changes according to the position from which it is encountered. Alignment gives way to separation, solid material to interval, and what appears complete from one perspective becomes something different from another. Its name, TRA, Italian for “between,” describes both the object's physical condition and the idea from which it emerged.

The campaign extends that idea beyond the object itself. TRA becomes an abstraction of the person: the ways we move through different positions, experiences, and states while remaining part of one continuous self. Through the body, architecture, material, making, and place, the campaign moves from what is felt but unseen toward the object that ultimately gives those ideas form.

A study of what remains continuous as position, perspective, and experience change.

The Meaning

TRA is Italian for “between.”

The name speaks to the condition at the object's center: between alignment and displacement, material and void, separation and continuity. It also reaches beyond the physical form. TRA considers the spaces between where we have been and where we are going, between different positions and experiences, and the continuity that allows us to remain ourselves through change.

TRA is not simply the space between things.

It is what connects them

Four hands. One form.

TRA is the result of a meeting between ORFEO STUDIO in Italy and Remain & Remind in Washington, D.C. Two studios, two perspectives, one shared idea.

HANDCRAFTED IN ITALY

Before the object, there was an idea.

A simple question brought us together:

“What happens in between?”

Between material and void.
Between stillness and movement.
Between function and feeling.

TRA explores this space, where contrasts align and new forms emerge.

Two places. A shared language.

ORFEO STUDIO brings an Italian heritage of material mastery and artisanal precision. Remain & Remind brings a contemporary American perspective shaped by architecture, art, and a deeply human approach to objects.

Together, we found common ground in a belief that design is more than form. It is a way of experiencing the world.

INQUIRE

BETWEEN

Material and void as a life journey.

TRA finds meaning in what is present and what is absent. Its material planes hold the experiences that shape us, while the intervals between them speak to what has changed, been lost, left behind, or simply cannot be seen.

Neither exists without the other. Together, material and absence form one continuous whole, much like a life shaped not only by what we carry, but by the spaces between where we have been and who we are becoming.
